You will need to drop us a WhatsApp message with your full name and the dates you are interested in! Once the team has checked there is availability, they will send you a link to pay the deposit and get you booked in.

Send your preferred expedition, departure date, full name and number of guests to Kandu on WhatsApp at +960 9970856. Our team will confirm availability and send a secure bank payment link. A 40% deposit secures your booking, and you will receive a payment confirmation receipt.

The remaining 60% can be paid on arrival by cash, card or bank transfer. Trip payments are accepted in USD, EUR or GBP. MVR is also accepted for optional purchases such as merchandise and photography.

Payments are non-refundable. To request a move to another departure date or year, contact Kandu at least three months before your original departure and retain your payment receipt. Requests received after this deadline cannot be transferred and require a new booking.

Kandu’s own scheduled expeditions have no minimum guest requirement. Departures proceed even with one booked guest.

Accommodation is based on two guests sharing a room. Couples and friends can share together; solo travellers are paired with another solo traveller of the same gender.

Our hotels are Milano Hotel in Maafushi and, on the Manta expedition, Biosphere Hotels in Baa Atoll.

A private room can be requested at an additional cost: US$65 per room per night at Milano Hotel and US$130 per room per night at Biosphere Hotels.

It is a requirement to be able to know how to swim in the ocean!

Please remember this is an ocean safari! You do not have to be a scuba-diver nor a free-diver, you just need to know how to swim!!

Budget for dinners not included in your expedition, personal expenses and any optional activities or purchases. The Maldives expedition includes one dinner; the Manta expedition includes two. All breakfasts and lunches are included on both trips.

Action-camera photos and videos captured by our team are included. Optional professional underwater photos cost US$15 each, professional underwater videos US$30 each, and drone videos US$15 per person. Merchandise and photography can also be paid for in MVR.

Our team speaks: English, Spanish & Maldivian! We also understand French & Italian.

For Maldives: just swimsuits and SPF! We provide towels, water bottles and all equipment needed for scuba-diving and snorkelling!

For our Whales trip: water bottles, towels are not provided so you will need to bring those but we do provide all equipment needed for snorkelling!

It is the open ocean and not an aquarium so we always say 50/50!

That said, we do know the best places to look in, we know these animals, we have shared waters with them for an extremely long time and we use technology to locate them too! So we do everything in our power to have incredible encounters and we have never had a single group come and not see anything!
